Privacy Policy

Revvyx is a UK vehicle lookup app for iOS and Android. This policy explains what data is used, where it goes, and what is stored.
Who we are
Revvyx is operated by CrewPost LTD ("we", "us"), a company registered in the United Kingdom. CrewPost LTD is the data controller responsible for your personal data under UK GDPR. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].
What Revvyx does
You enter a UK number plate. Revvyx looks up publicly available information about that vehicle from official government APIs and third-party automotive databases, then displays it to you.
To do this, the app talks to the Revvyx backend — a server we operate that fetches the data on the app's behalf, caches results, generates AI content, and checks that requests come from a genuine copy of the app. This section explains what that server receives and keeps.
Data stored on your device
Most of your data lives only on your device:
| What | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicles you save to Garage | Local app storage | So you can track MOT/tax dates |
| Vehicles you add to Favourites | Local app storage | So you can compare and revisit them |
| App settings (theme, units, reminders) | Local storage | To remember your preferences |
| Cached lookup results | Local app storage | To avoid repeated lookups |
You can clear cached data at any time from the app's Settings. Uninstalling the app removes all data stored on your device.
Data processed by the Revvyx backend
When you look up a vehicle, the app sends the request to the Revvyx backend. The backend:
| What | Detail | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The registration you search | The number plate is sent to the backend and recorded | To fetch the vehicle data, cache it, and keep a record of searches to operate, secure and improve the app |
| The vehicle details returned | Make, model, year, fuel, colour, tax/MOT status, CO₂, engine size, mileage | Product analytics — to understand which vehicles are looked up and improve the service |
| Approximate location | Your country, derived from your IP address by our hosting provider | Regional analytics and abuse prevention |
| Platform | Whether the request came from iOS or Android | Analytics and support |
| Device integrity check | An attestation token from Apple (DeviceCheck) or Google (Play Integrity) | To confirm the request comes from a genuine, untampered copy of the app and block abuse. We do not receive your Apple or Google account details from this. |
Retention. Vehicle results are cached on the backend for up to about 7 days (technical specifications, which don't change, may be kept longer). Search analytics are kept for roughly 3 months and then expire automatically. We do not create accounts, so this data is not tied to your name or email.
IP addresses. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes your IP address to route requests, derive your country, and rate-limit abusive traffic. We do not store your IP address ourselves.
Legal basis (UK GDPR). A UK registration mark can, in some cases, identify the registered keeper, so we treat it as personal data. We process the data above under our legitimate interests in operating, securing, analysing and improving the app. You have the right to access or request deletion of data we hold — contact us at the address below.
Third-party services
We never share your name, contact details, or location with any third party — we don't collect them in the first place. To retrieve vehicle information, our backend sends only the registration number (to official government and vehicle databases) or non-identifying vehicle details such as make, model and year (to vehicle-specification providers and the AI service that generates summaries). Nothing that identifies you personally is shared.
International data transfers
Some of our service providers — including those that handle hosting and AI — may process data on servers outside the United Kingdom (for example, in the United States). Where that happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision, as relied upon by those providers.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used (this policy)
- Access the data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to our processing — including objecting to processing based on our legitimate interests
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. Because we don't operate accounts, we may ask you to identify the relevant searches (for example, the registration and approximate date) so we can locate the data.
You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
Children's privacy
Revvyx is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
What Revvyx does NOT do
- Does not create user accounts or ask for your name, email, or phone number
- Does not track you across other apps or websites
- Does not use advertising SDKs or sell your data to anyone
- Does not record your precise location
Notifications
If you enable MOT or tax reminders, Revvyx schedules local notifications on your device based on the expiry dates of vehicles in your Garage. These are generated and delivered entirely on your device — no data is sent to a server to schedule them. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will be updated. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
